Jermiya first joined us aged 8 alongside his younger brother. He quickly became a familiar and steady presence across our programmes. Even then, he stood out. Wise beyond his years, quietly (sometimes very loudly!) keeping things in order, making sure there were no gaps in our lines and that every adult had the tickets we needed for trips and events. He had a natural instinct to look out for others, bringing a sense of calm and responsibility that you don’t often see so young.

As he moved on to secondary school and then university, we watched him grow from an inquisitive child into a confident young adult finding his own path. Then, in his first year of university, Jermiya came back: this time as a volunteer. Having him return has been incredibly special. He’s a natural with our children, stepping into leadership with ease, and carrying that same care he showed years ago into everything he does now.
At just 19, Jermiya represents exactly what long-term support and opportunity can grow into. It’s a full-circle moment for us, and we’re so proud to have him back. We’re excited to see where his journey goes next.
Each story reflects the power of trusted relationships, happy memories, and meaningful support in the lives of children and families.
